Will the Sun rise in the west? Will the stars reverse course in the heavens? Will the Pleiades weep? If any of these events occur, what’s a seeker to do?
According to one of the Eris myths, that is what happened one day many centuries ago. Jupiter, displeased with the results of an election in Mycenae, decided to correct what he deemed a political wrong. He dispatched Mercury to visit the leader of that land and ask if he would relinquish his post should the Sun rise in the west. The leader, convinced that the solar system status quo intended to prevail, agreed, evidently forgetting the Mercury, the trickster, presented the deal.
Jupiter then dispatched Eris, goddess of discord and many other not so admirable qualities, to assist him in the reversal of the heavens for but one day. The Sun and Moon rose in the west, the stars reversed their celestial track and the Pleiades wept.
On 5 October Mercury in Libra opposes Eris in Aries followed up by Jupiter in Scorpio forming the last of three quincunxes to Eris in this cycle come 8 October. The pattern... the set up... is very much like the Erissian myth above. What sort of political adjustments will Jupiter mandate in the next two weeks? It is important to remember that Jupiter advocates for what he feels is justice, which may or may not align with the collective consciousness.
The more commonly told Eris tale begins as Eris fails to receive an invitation to the wedding of the millennium that of the sea nymph, Thetis, and Peleus, a mortal. Furious at being shunned, Eris elects to extract her revenge. She takes a golden apple and carves upon it “kallisti,” which approximates to “for the fairest.” Eris showed up at the wedding and rolled the apple to the feet of Aphrodite, Athena and Hera, the iconic goddesses of the day. As would be surmised, each of the goddesses declared the golden apple surely should be her prize.
Jupiter was called in to arbitrate. Immediately he realized his conflict of interest, as his wife was one of those declaring apple rights. Mercury again received notice to do his duty. Ultimately, a shepherd, Paris of Troy, was called in to make the judgment and before you can shake a lamb’s tail in Paris’ flock, the Trojan War resulted from a sequence of consequences of the judgment.
The Sun opposes Eris on 15 October, and less than a fortnight to follow, 27 October, Ceres opposes Eris. Ceres, like Eris, wore a reputation of the propensity to build up a huge head of steam in no time at all. Add the Sun, certainly the most significant influence in our solar system, and a significant transit pairing is at hand.
No doubt political turbulence lies ahead in the next month. Prior to the upcoming elections in the United States the legendary October surprise that historically precedes political elections seems a given. What will happen politically? I do not know. What I do know is that sometimes when transits occur, those impacted remain unaware of the event that will soon be consequential on their path. In the current political scenarios, things are happening of which we have no awareness and will become aware of them only when the revelations appear and then the impact can be ascertained.
Okay, so the Eris myths are woeful and her nature in general something to be feared. What can an individual do with the current Eris trends to create uplifting results?
First, engage Eris. Invite Eris to the party of your life. Invoke her. Run toward her. Include her.
Second, Mercury opposite Eris: Be clear. State what you desire. As for inclusion in those circumstances, situations, activities and organization in which you consciously choose to engage, ensure all of those things are sorted through strict and strategic mental filters promising consistency with the core within. Make no threat, nor promise you do not intend to meet. Issue no ultimatums. Do your best to resist the temptation to issue chicanery statements and riddles.
Third, Jupiter quincunx Eris: This is an aspect of adjustment for certain. Tweak, refine and upgrade beliefs, principles and life standards for maximum consistency of how the consciousness of the soul is perceived. When seeking participation and dealing with others, first declare perceived alignment of ideas, philosophical renderings and ultimate objectives. State all participation you intend to provide that you can consciously and clearly engage.
Fourth, Sun opposite Eris: Reality check your goals and aspirations. Get clear on what suits you. Find the perfect fit in your skin. Do you truly want the social sphere and economic standing you pursue with such vigor? Is that membership in whatever club really a feather in your cap or a worthy bulletpoint on your resume? Does that new social media thing deserve your attention, and will it render what it promises?
Fifth, Ceres opposite Eris: If one is not careful with this transit, the nose can be cut off in spite of the face. To ensure no such defacing, loss of respect, reputation or stature, consider a few checkpoints. Think long term... at least ninety days out... and think consequentially. Are your intended actions barreling down the high road? Are the beliefs and justifications in play truly of your higher mind? When you speak for others, are you authorized to do so? Is the outcome you seek of benefit for all? Calibrate consciousness until what you seek perfectly matches the declared nature of your spirit.
Eris is engaged. Might as well consciously join in.
Choose to be included. After all, if you still believe Pluto is a planet, it’s beneficial to recall that Eris is slightly larger than he, and certainly more dense... suggesting a greater fervor and tightly-packed determination. All the while transits are occurring from Scorpio and Libra to Eris’ Aries run, maintain soulful intent and spirited intensity. While you’re at it, include some manners and diplomatic skills. You know where the line in the sand lies and your commitment to core is to be your most excellent you can be while dealing with all the lines of life.
